Are you looking for an activity that works for everyone — little ones, older kids, and you handling the logistics? The Fayots Challenge is made for exactly that.
At the top of Vallée Blanche, a 2 km loop with a very gentle elevation gain awaits from June 13 to August 30, 2026. Along the trail, 5 fun challenges invite children (from age 3 and up) to guide a giant wooden marble through playful structures while you enjoy the panoramic views over the Oisans peaks. Allow around 1h30, or a little longer if you stop for a picnic break.
On the practical side, everything is easy: the Vallée Blanche Telemix takes you directly to the starting point, with cabins suitable for strollers. The trail is fully signposted, safe, and stroller-friendly. The wooden marble can be purchased for €3 from the vending machine at the summit (card payment accepted) or at the Jandri ticket office, and you can take it home as a souvenir.

If you want to bring home more than just photos of ski slopes, the Balcons des Cimes is the hike not to miss. Between 3,100 and 3,200 metres in altitude, this 1.9 km trail (+80 m / -140 m elevation change) offers the finest views over the Mont de Lans glacier, with a 360° panorama across the Écrins massif, Belledonne, the Grandes Rousses, and, on clear days, even Mont Blanc on the horizon.
This is not a technical hike, but the altitude requires proper preparation: high-ankle hiking boots, a windproof jacket, sunscreen, and plenty of water are essential. Conditions can change quickly at this elevation, even in summer. Access is via the Jandri lift, with the option to continue up to Destination 3400 by funicular to extend the experience.
For families with children who are used to walking, it’s a truly unique mountain adventure.
